As you know, at Mesrobian School we strive toward excelling educationally and exceeding expectations with an experience unparalleled in quality, care, and individual attention. Armenian Mesrobian High School is a WASC accredited college preparatory institution. The High School curriculum is certified to the University of California, and the school’s graduation requirements exceed those of the University of California and the State of California. The transition from Mesrobian Middle School to High School is the culmination of a long process of development and self realization that occurs throughout Mesrobian School. We equip our students with the tools needed to succeed and thrive in life, starting as early as preschool, through to elementary and middle school. We want to give you a snapshot of what to anticipate in the coming years with Mesrobian High School, which includes social and emotional opportunities for students few other public or private schools comprehensively provide: Personalized College Preparation, Career Mentorship & Preparation, Yearly Educational and Extracurricular Trips, Mesrobian Athletics and Extracurriculars, and Scholarship Opportunities for Mesrobian Graduating Seniors. 

Personalized College Preparation

Beginning in 8th grade, Mesrobian School administers grade-level appropriate versions of the PSAT so that students are accustomed to the standardized testing required of students for college admission. Based on the results of their PSAT, students received a link through the College Board that connects them with a personalized Khan Academy SAT prep-program.  

The student to high school college counselor ratio is typically hundreds of students per counselor. Mesrobian High School is proud to offer personal and individualized college counseling to help each individual student reach his or her potential. Each student has their college applications and essays reviewed by multiple professionals. They receive individualized, customized letters of recommendation. Parents and students are offered the help of a college financial aid expert to walk families through the FAFSA application. In addition, High School Seniors take a College Preparation and Life Skills course their first semester to guide them through this entire process that would normally be left to students to manage alone. 

All High School students take educational field trips to college and university campuses in order to help them imagine their futures in higher education and begin to determine their future career paths from an early age. Qualified students have the option of taking honors and Advanced Placement courses, which prepare students for the rigors of college level courses.

High School students have various elected, appointed, and volunteer opportunities in curricular, co-curricular, extracurricular, and athletic fields to serve in various leadership roles, build life skills, and develop a robust college resume. At Mesrobian High School, everyone has greater opportunities to lead on campus or off campus. 

Throughout Mesrobian’s rich history which spans over half a century, graduates have been accepted to colleges and universities that include the following: California Lutheran University; California State Polytechnic University, Pomona; California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo; California State University including CSU Fullerton, CSU Long Beach, CSU Los Angeles, and CSU  Northridge; Claremont-McKenna College; Columbia University; Drexel University; DePaul University; Fordham University; Georgetown University; Loyola-Marymount University; Pepperdine University; Pitzer College; Pomona College; Saint John’s University; Scripps College; University of  California including UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Los Angeles, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Santa Cruz; University of Chicago; University of La Verne; University of Southern California; Whittier College; Woodbury University; Yale University.

Career Mentorship & Preparation

Our graduating students thrive in the world with confidence, earning degrees from the world’s finest universities and distinguishing themselves as industry-leaders, professionals and educators. Hundreds of Mesrobian Alumni continue to distinguished themselves in many prominent professions and careers. 

The Mesrobian Alumni Network and Mentorship Program connects current Mesrobian High School students with over five decades of alumni in fields as diverse as education, science, business, medicine, music, law, dentistry, chiropractic, politics, art, marketing, engineering, veterinary medicine, and psychology.

Alumni Mentors work with students to navigate through the exploration of various career options based on their personal interests. For example, students are given unique experiences in fields such as fashionveterinary medicineaerospace engineering, and law. 

We encourage parents and students to contact us early regarding college and university interests, and career interests so that we may begin to guide them on a path to success.

Yearly Educational Trips 

Mesrobian High School students have multiple opportunities for experiential learning through educational field trips and extracurricular opportunities ranging in duration. These opportunities include: 

  • Astrocamp

  • Marine Biology Camp

  • Transformational Trip to Armenia

  • Senior Retreat to AYF Camp

  • Junior State of America Conferences

  • Interact Club Student Leadership Retreats

Mesrobian Athletics and Extracurriculars 

Athletics are an important part of student life at Mesrobian School. Mesrobian High School is a member of the California Interscholastic Federation, and competes in the International League. Mesrobian’s teams have won 40 League Championships in boys’ baseball, basketball, soccer, and volleyball, and girls’ basketball and volleyball. Mesrobian School’s teams have won the league sportsmanship award seven times. During the last four years alone, the boys’ and girls’ teams have won league championships, with the boys advancing twice to at least the second round of the CIF championship tournament. 

Success in the field or on the court is an important part of the athletic program, as is the success of athletes in the classroom. Mesrobian School has produced ten male and female CIF Scholar Athletes. Moreover, three of the girls’ volleyball teams and three of the girls’ basketball teams have won CIF Southern Section Awards for the highest academic achievement as a team within the division in Southern California. Over the years, the girls’ basketball and girls’ volleyball teams also won the CIF Statewide Award  for the highest academic achievement as a team within the division throughout the state. 

High school students also participate in the Constitutional Rights Foundation’s Mock Trial Program, Teen Court, and attend statewide conventions in the fall and spring for Junior State of America (JSA), an organization for high school students interested in civic education and leadership. 

High School students may be considered for membership in the National Honor Society, based on academic performance, service, leadership, and character. 

Extra-crricular activities, electives, and personal development opportunities for our high school students include: Visual Arts and Ceramics; Dance/Performing Arts; Martial Arts; Computer Literacy; Digital Media/Publications; STEAM - Engineering, Electronics, 3D Modeling and Printing; Digital Creations and Strategy Games; Yoga; Physical Conditioning; and Response to Intervention (RTI). 

For co-curricular opportunities, Mesrobian students participate in the annual Science Fair, oratory, poetry, and spelling contests, the annual art exhibit during Open House, Reading Buddies program in several grades, participation in community service programs, Mock Trial, Junior State of America, Teen Court, and Visual and Performing Arts, among others. 

More elective subjects and extracurriculars are offered based on student interest and feedback.
