Mesrobian School, Gabriel Preschool Earn Six-Year WASC Accreditation| Asbarez| March, 2018
PICO RIVERA—The Armenian Mesrobian School announced it has received a maximum six-year term accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), expanding the school’s accreditation to include the Ron and Goharik Gabriel Preschool through Grade Twelve.

PICO RIVERA, Calif.— The Mesrobian High School Class of 2017 Seniors have been accepted into some of the world’s most competitive and prestigious universities.
Among the schools to which Mesrobian High School students were accepted include Georgetown University — which is considered “most selective” by U.S. News & World Report — and UCLA — the most applied-to four-year university in the nation with a notoriously low acceptance rate.

Davit and Nona are husband and wife, and owners of the Royal Academy “Sound of Music” in Montebello. Both are extremely talented and experienced. Davit and Nona along with the Holy Cross Armenian Cathedral are organizing and conducting a Charity Concert. All proceeds of the concert will benefit the Armenian Mesrobian School. The concert is dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. Davit and Nona have had their business in Montebello for over 5 years and continue to give back to the community their special gifts of talent.

Fourth graders from Armenian Mesrobian School got a taste of "life at the Rancho" when they visited Montebello's Sanchez Adobe April 10, along with teacher Christine Rublacava. The day's activities, spearheaded by Montebello Historical Society Second Vice President Kathleen Rabago, began with a history of the Adobe by curator Jon Reed, including the families that have lived there over the years, as well as the inner workings and economy of the rancho.

While hundreds of thousands of students across the nation await word from admissions offices of the colleges and universities to which they applied, some High School Seniors at Armenian Mesrobian School have a rather favorable dilemma. Despite most campuses of the University of California not informing applicants of their acceptance until late March, Poghos Iskajyan, who has attended Mesrobian since second grade, has already been accepted to the University of California, Irvine’s Honor’s Program, which accepts only the highest achieving students. He has also been invited to the University of California, Santa Barbara as one of the top applicants that they have this year. Other universities showing an interest in him or which have asked him for an interview include Harvard, Brown, Columbia, and Georgetown.

Earlier this school year, Mesrobian 7th grader Sevana Chalian travelled to Yerevan, Armenia with her father Dr. Armen Chalian and mother Maro Chalian, both Mesrobian Alumni (class of 1980), to provide voluntary anesthesia services for pediatric reconstructive surgeries along with a seventeen-member delegation from across the United States. The medical team was sponsored by Plasticos Foundation. and only two others beside the Chalians were of Armenian descent.
